Tessa Waalwijk (Spotler): «Spotler develops and delivers the easiest to use software for professional email marketing»

• Tell me about the main thing of the company? When did you decided to create and build the company and which were the purposes?

Spotler is a Dutch company. As a result of the merger of sister companies Blinker (email consultancy) and MailPlus (ESP – Email Service Provider), Spotler was founded in June 2017. However, the organization has been active since 2004 (then under the name of Blinker and MailPlus). Since then, a leading position has been built up in the Netherlands when it comes to developing and delivering e-mail marketing software for ambitious marketers working at midsized companies. Especially in the B2B, ecommerce and NGO/Non-Profit segments Spotler has built a leading position.
Spotler is based in Zoetermeer (near The Hague and Rotterdam) and has more than 70 employees who work for about 5,000 users of the Spotler software. Since November 2016, CNBB Venture Partners from Rotterdam has a majority stake in Spotler and it helps Spotler with the realization of further (international) growth. This resulted in an exclusive cooperation with M+ Agency/MailPlus Adria in Zagreb, Croatia since 2016, the start of Spotler España in the beginning of 2018 and the acquisition of CommuniGator (UK-based marketing automation company) in June 2018.

• Can you tell us an example of a successful story? What differentiates you from your competition?

In general, but especially in the Netherlands, Spotler is a software with service. Spotler develops and delivers the easiest to use software for professional email marketing (automation). But it’s not only software. We offer all services for a carefree start and that help customers improve their performance and results. It’s all about being relevant to recipients of email communication.

We help customers to get better in using our software. So we take care of the complete onboarding, including the necessary templates and database integrations. We also train them in using the software and our Customer Success team proactively coach their customers to successfully use all modules within the software. If customers have questions the can call our Support team. We offer real-time support (90% of calls directly solved on the phone) and finally we provide access to a large active partner network for full service work, strategic advice, customer journeys, etc. That’s how we guarantee software without frustrations.

The user friendly software, combined with the services we offer is not our only USP. Spotler is also commited to the highest standards of data security and protection and obviously fully GDPR compliant for email marketing. Since 2004 we have sent billions of emails via our servers. The infrastructure is fully equipped to deliver all mailings to millions of recipients per month in the most optimal way. An average senderscore of 95+ is prove of an almost perfect deliverability. In addition to our effort to realize the best deliverability for customers we also work hard to offer the best possible security. That’s why we have been ISO 27001 certified for our entire organization (procedures, technology and platforms) since 2017. This certificate guarantees customers that Spotler meets all international standard requirements in the area of information security.

The extremely user-friendly software (in Spanish) and the high security are things we will bring to the Spanish market, but when it comes to services we have a slightly different plan for Spain in comparison to Spotler in the Netherlands…

• What are the modalities and options in the plans that you offer to the customers? Which are the plans for 2019, in matter of growth and expansion?

For Spotler España we focus on setting up a partner network of (online) marketing agencies, web developers and marketing consultancy companies who can deliver their own services on our software. These partners have a strong connection with their customers, are native Spanish and do know everything about local online and email marketing needs. So with our software and its powerful functions, especially for ecommerce companies, plus the guarantee of GDPR compliancy we give our partners the opportunity to help their customers to get results with email marketing and communication. And by doing so we create an extra business model for our partners. We support our partners in selling our proposition and we can also do the set-up, including custom made templates, of the Spotler account so that our partner and his customer are able to start their cooperation in email marketing in the best possible way.
